The SIDELINE bag filter housing is the industry standard 316SS bag filter vessel design when a Code UM or Code U stamp is required.  The SIDELINE filter housing is applicable for all nominal micron retentions; if you require a specified efficiency (99% efficient) filter media, you should use the TOPLINE bag filter housing design.

 

Each SIDELINE bag filter housing has a swing bolt cover which can be hinged in any one of four positions.  The concave evacuation cover increases ullage (empty space) within the filter housing.  The advantage is twofold; there is less "wasted fluid" during filter bag changes and the fluid level ends-up lower in the housing to reduce spillage after the cover is opened.

 

The cover is constructed from an investment casting, ensuring a precise and reliable sealing with concentric downwards pressure onto the bag hold-down ring. Each SIDELINE bag filter housing is ASME UM Code stamped (U stamp is optional).

 

The restrainer (support) basket is made of 316SS and has 9/64" perforations.  SIDELINE bag filters also come with adjustable epoxy powder coated steel mounting legs.

 

Eaton SIDELINE bag filter housings are available for both #1 and #2 size filter bags, having either a 2" or 3" 150# ANSI flanged connections.  Due to the filter bag sealing method requiring a hold down ring to compress the filter bag seal against the restrainer (support) basket, the SIDELINE bag filters are best suited for nominally rated filter media >25 microns.  If your application requires an absolute rated filter bag or retention of particles finer than 25 microns the TOPLINE bag filter housing is a better choice.

 

SIDELINE bag filter housings can be supplied with tri-clover connections used by the food, beverage and biopharmaceutical industries and we can also electro polish them internally and externally.  Steam jacketing is another option for this bag filter housing, the stainless steel jacket can cover just the body or the entire filter vessel.  As illustrated in the cutaway picture, the outlet can be repositioned to the lower side of the housing in any orientation to the inlet connection.  Examples are when the inlet and outlet are located on the same side or when they are tangential to each other, not just "in-line" as illustrated.

 

The maximum flow rate for a #2 size bag filter housing when using nominally rated filter bags and a standard restrainer basket is about 130 GPM; this can be increased to 200 GPM when using the HAYFLOW restrainer basket and filter bag design.
