PVC and CPVC Double Length Bag Filters

Hayward PVC and CPVC bag filter housings are compatible with industry standard #1 (7" diameter x 16" long) and #2 (7" diameter x 32" long) filter bags.  The filter bags themselves determine the particle retention and filtration efficiency.  Generally speaking Hayward PVC and CPVC bag filters are used for 1 to 200 micron nominal filtration applications.  "Nominal" is a reference to the initial efficiency of the filter bag material; as the filter bag becomes clogged its efficiency increases as the pathways for fluid narrow or become increasingly complex.  Most manufacturers use filter bag material that is at least 65% efficient and perhaps as high as 75% for their nominal rated filter bags.  Absolute rated filter bags are also available, although the seal interface between the filter bag and Hayward bag filter is not supportive of absolute filtration <25 microns.

Inside each bag filter housing are a restrainer basket (supports the filter bag) and a sealing ring (transfers the chamber cover force across the circumference of the filter bag seal).  Hayward bag filter vessels are ergonomically designed to be installed and maintained without the need of tools.  The true union connections enable flexibility for a high or low side outlet and even same side outlet.  An additional lower port can be used as a drain or as an additional outlet port.

The chamber cover has large handles with large buttress threads enabling removal and re-installation of the chamber cover manually without tools; the chamber cover o-ring (available in EPDM or FPM) is a captured design so it does not fall out during chamber cover removal.  A vent valve is provided to evacuate air during initial filling.  The cover itself is designed to displace air to keep venting to a minimum and to make it safer to access the filter bag chamber if it has not been drained.

The base of Hayward PVC and CPVC bag filters has a flat and thick molded bolt holes to secure the housing to grade.   Ergonomically these bag filer housings are a very well thought-out design which should endure many years of harsh service.
